In 2016, Luis Moros, a young teenager, fled the political instability of Venezuela with his mother and a mere $100 in their pockets. They faced numerous challenges, including economic hardships, language barriers, and the constant struggle of finding a stable home. Despite these obstacles, Moros persevered and is now on the verge of completing his degree in Political Science and Public Administration at Florida International University.
From Refugee to Inspirer
Moros’ journey was fraught with difficulties, but he remained resilient. He describes being a refugee as being homeless, as he and his mother moved eight times in a single year. They had to manage their meager resources while navigating a new culture and language. Despite these hardships, Moros remained determined to build a better life.

Today, Moros has transformed his life through discipline and perseverance. He has become a philanthropist and human rights advocate, focusing on diversity and inclusion. He has founded non-profit organizations, advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community, and demonstrated leadership and kindness. His mission is to help Latino migrants in the U.S., and he is currently on a national tour to help migrant students secure scholarships.
Working with Michelle Obama’s Foundation
In 2021, Moros had the opportunity to work with the non-partisan organization led by former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, known as When We All Vote. As an ambassador for the organization, Moros organized voter registration campaigns and led teams to increase electoral participation in the U.S. He also collaborated to pass the For the People Act in the U.S. Senate.
